Potty Update

Filed under: Becoming her mom — Tamra @ 11:09 am

I just thought I ought to let you know that the potty issues have been resolved! Rani has had only one pee accidents in the last two weeks or so and no poopy ones! She is back in panties(yay the dipes are expensive!) and is toileting independently. If only she wouldn’t flush an entire roll of TP when she goes! LOL I usually have to hide the TP and leave out a small piece I know she will use.

Sling baby!

Filed under: Becoming her mom — Tamra @ 7:09 pm

When I took Ahrana from the orphanage I put her in the sling. For weeks she would be upset if she even saw the sling. The only time we got her to stay in it at all was when Dave wore it at the Taj. A couple of weeks ago I started showing her pictures of me carrying the boys in it and I started carrying her dolls. Ever since then she is addicted to the sling! She will curl all up inside it like a little ball and sometimes even cover her head. It’s so cute! The other day we were at the airport welcoming home The Barron’s and my friend snapped this picture of Rani in the sling.

Ugh I found three nits in Rani’s hair today. They didn’t slide off easily. I washed her in Rid, boiled all her combs and brushes, washed the bedding, combed her hair with a lice comb(and I didnt’ see a single lice bug).

I will just die if I get it. My hair is SO long and thick! Not to mention all her friends.

Just praying they were stray eggs from the orphanage that I never saw. Where else could she have been exposed to them? *sigh*:furious

Tough Day

Filed under: Becoming her mom — Tamra @ 11:09 pm

I don’t know why, but today was a tough day. The babies were extra into everything and I was extra impatient. Rani isn’t quite as obedient as she used to be LOL but that doesn’t surprise me. I’m starting to have to use more discipline type things with her, but truly she seems to like it. Just like a toddler to want to know where the limits are!

We had a great weekend though. We took Rani to the sand dunes for the first time. After that first ride she was so excited. She was trying so hard to find the words in English to explain her joy but what I mostly got was “Mommy! um…Ohlibuh(Oliver)!…um…Sullibuhn(Sullivan)…um….dune buggy!….um…” LOL it was so cute! That was the first time she has really tried to find the English rather than just say it in Oriya. She’s been doing that a lot ever since.

Thanks to my good friend Holly’s daughter Mira I can now do Rani’s hair! I’m so happy to have found a style that works well and keeps her bangs out of her face. I’ve felt so helpless doing her hair and I’m so grateful to have this new piece of information! Thanks Mira!

Rani had her first visit to the Dr. on Friday. The Dr. gave her a clean bill of health, but of course has recommended the standard tests. She also recommended a good eye Doctor. We are pretty sure she will need glasses.

By the way. I’ve noticed some people IRL pronouncing Rani’s name as “Rainy”. Just to clear things up I’d like to let you know that it is pronounced RAH-nee. That’s why we chose the name Ahrana, it naturally shortens to Rani.

She is truly a fun and joyful child. I’m starting to feel ready to start another adoption! LOL Well, no not really, but since it takes so long it makes me itchin’ to start. Dave is not ready though, so I’m not pushing it of course. I do want Rani to have a sister from India though! India makes the cutest baby girls! 😉 not that I’m biased or anything. But with this face how can I help it???

And cookbook preorders would still be welcome!(see post below) I haven’t sold that many and it’s making me nervous!

Photo Shoot!

Filed under: Becoming her mom — Tamra @ 5:09 pm

Today I decided to do an impromptu photo shoot of Rani! She seemed down today and loves to dress up so I thought it may cheer her up a little. We bought this little dress in a shop in Agra and it’s so cute! The background is her bedroom wall!

First Family Picture

Filed under: Becoming her mom — Tamra @ 1:09 am

My wonderful SIL took this pic while we were up camping a week and a half ago. We were all very dirty and Ollie didn’t want to be in the picture, but this is the first pic we have where we are ALL in it! 🙂
Enjoy! And don’t miss my fundraiser post below in your distraction. :wink LOL
