Rwanda Update…

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tamra @ 9:30 am

Dissapointing news.  We finally got through to the Ministry in Rwanda and have been told the reason we have been denied is that we don’t meet the requirements.

These are the requirements:

No more then 2 children already in the home

No divorces EVER

One Parent must be over 35

And parents must have been married for more than 5 years.
We are pretty confident that she made up these rules on the fly just so that she could deny us.  We have spoken to someone who actually works for her and saw our dossiers and she says she’s seen other families go through that didn’t meet those.  She says the Ministry is denying 50% of the petitions to adopt.

So Rwanda is officially out for everyone in our group.  Those poor poor babies. 🙁

    Tamra,
I am so sorry! Your family will be in my prayers and thoughts as you search for your children. They are out there and I am confident that Heavenly Father will show you the way to them.

This seems so crazy! I mean, if your group had long crime records or something, then yes, I could understand the rejection 🙂 But why would they turn down good families who just want to help and love these children and provide a family for them?

I’m truly sorry Rwanda is out for you guys. I hope you are able to adopt from somewhere else that pulls your heartstrings too.

    Hi Tamra,

It’s Karen from Evil Mommy. I’m really sorry that Rwanda didn’t work out. But something else will. *hugs* Thinking of you…

I am so sorry Tamra! What is the plan for you all now? You know you can do an independent adoption from Ethiopia. Is that an option for you? I don’t think Holly was there for more than 5 weeks, so it would still be roughly the same timeframe. Maybe even similar cost-wise. I’m thinking of ya!
